Dustin Day is the biggest kid at Middletown Prairie Elementary,  and he also serves as the assistant principal.

He previously taught kindergarten and first grade, worked as an interventionist, and served as an administrative intern. He first found out what Mahomet had to offer when he met his wife Danielle in college. Fifteen years ago, they got engaged and applied for the same first grade teaching position at Sangamon School.  No one knew it, but this couple was engaged during the interviews. One night after the interviews, Dusty received a call from Mr. Cabutti.  “Hi Dustin, I just want you to know we were really impressed with your interview, and our team debated for a while after the interviews.  It came down to you and another young lady. This young lady was a Mahomet alumni and has spent many hours volunteering in classrooms in our district.  We want to thank you for your interest, but we are unable to offer you a job at this time. " Mr. Day said he appreciated the call, but Mr. Cabutti was probably really confused when Dusty told him he made a good choice. The confusion peaked when Mr. Cabutti found Mr. Day moving book boxes into an empty classroom at Sangamon. Fourteen years later, Mr. Day had better luck with his second interview with the Mahomet-Seymour school district and is thrilled to have his entire family be part of the Mahomet community!

Dusty and Danielle currently have 3 boys all four years apart.  He hopes things go as planned and in the future to have a college, high school, and 8th grade graduation all in the same year.

Mr. Day is excited to start his second year at Middletown Prairie Elementary, and he believes coming to Mahomet was one of the best decisions he has ever made. He is ready to roll up his sleeves, put on his mask, and get to work. Go Bulldogs!
