Melissa Hirsbrunner is a speech-language pathologist new this year to Mahomet Seymour School District. She works at Middletown Prairie Elementary and Mahomet-Seymour Junior High, and is very excited about getting to know the students receiving speech services at these schools. She previously worked in Champaign Unit 4 and Cerro Gordo Unit 100. Before getting her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in speech pathology at Eastern Illinois University, she was a graphic designer in Champaign and the Chicago suburbs. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Illinois Wesleyan University.

Melissa has lived in Mahomet with her husband, Jason, for 15 years. They have enjoyed raising children Connor (15) and Adilynn (10) in the small, friendly community. Jason is the chief operating officer at Christie Clinic and enjoys golfing and grilling/smoking. Connor is a sophomore at MSHS involved in student council and marching band. Addie, a fifth grader at Lincoln Trail, plays softball and enjoys photography. The family has an energetic mini goldendoodle named Chewbarka (nicknamed Chewy) and will be getting a hamster soon. In her spare time, Melissa enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, doing yoga, and dreaming up home improvement projects to complete with Jason.

Melissa is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Illinois Speech-Language Hearing Association, and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence. She is passionate about helping children improve their communication and is looking forward to serving the students right here in her own community.
