Board Members

Terry Greene, President
Mr. Greene was first appointed to the Board in 2005 to complete an unexpired term.  He was elected to a full four-year term in 2007, and re-elected in 2011.  His current term will expire in 2015.  He represents Mahomet Township. 

Mr. Greene has served as Board Vice-President (2007-2009) and Board President (2009-Present).  The Illinois Association of School Boards has designated Mr. Greene as a Master Board Member in 2010 and 2011. 

Mr. Greene has a B.A. degree from Drury University (Springfield, MO) and is the Chief Executive Officer for the Home Builders Association of East Central Illinois.  He and his wife, Tricia, have four sons (Patrick, Brady, Douglas, and Teddy).


Vicki Niswander, Vice President
Mrs. Niswander was first elected to the Board in 2007.  She was re-elected in 2011 and is serving a four-year term which expires in 2015.  She represents Mahomet Township.

Mrs. Niswander has served as Secretary (2007-2009) and Vice-President (2010-Present).  The Illinois Association of School Boards has designated Mrs. Niswander as a Master Board Member in 2010 and 2011. 

Mrs. Niswander received her undergraduate degree in Elementary and Music Education from Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo, MI) and a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Illinois in 2003.  She and her husband, Mark, have lived in Mahomet for 25 years.  Their three children (Annie, Jeff, and Kathy) attended Mahomet-Seymour Schools throughout their school careers and have since graduated.  Mrs. Niswander is currently the Executive Director of the Illinois Association of Microboards and Cooperatives (IAMC).


Cheryl Melchi, Secretary
Mrs. Melchi was elected to the Board in 2007 and was re-elected in 2011.  She is serving a four-year term which expires in 2015.  She represents the townships other than Mahomet in the District. 

Mrs. Melchi has served as the Board Secretary since 2010.

A graduate of EIU, Mrs. Melchi works for Chesser Financial.  She and her husband, John, are the parents of four daughters (Lauren, Sarah, Jessica, and Allie).


Valerie Woodruff
Dr. Woodruff was first elected to the Board in 2007 and was re-elected in 2011.  Her four-year term expires in 2015.  She represents the townships other than Mahomet in the District. 

Dr. Woodruff earned a BS in Zoology from Washington State University, a BS in Dentistry from the University of Illinois-Chicago, and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree is also from UIC.  She has had a general dental practice in Mahomet since 1987.  Her husband, Mike, has a veterinary surgical practice in Mahomet.  They have two children:  Woody, a student at Millikin University and Raeann, a current Mahomet-Seymour High School student.


Max McComb
Mr. McComb was appointed to the Board to fill an unexpired term in 2007.  He was elected in 2009 and is serving a four-year term which expires in 2013.  He represents Mahomet Township.  The Illinois Association of School Boards has designated Mr. McComb as a LeaderShop Academy member.

Mr. McComb is a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University and is a local Realtor with Re/Max Realty Associates.  His wife, Ellen, is an RN/specialist at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal and they have been married over 30 years.  They are the parents of one son, Jon, who is a MSHS graduate and currently studies and plays football at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO.  


Becky Ryherd
Mrs. Ryherd was elected to the Board in 2009 and is serving a four-year term which expires in 2013.  She represents Mahomet Township.   The Illinois Association of School Boards has designated Mrs. Ryherd as a LeaderShop Academy member.

Mrs. Ryherd earned her MEd in Elementary Education in 1989.  Her husband, Dave, is a Sales Manager with GlaxoSmithKline.  Their son, Ben, is a freshman at Missouri University of Science & Technology and daughter, Lisa, is a junior at Mahomet-Seymour High School.


Merle Giles
Mr. Giles was elected to the Board in 2009 and is serving a four-year term which expires in 2013.  He represents the townships other than Mahomet in the District.

Mr. Giles has a BS in Accounting from Illinois State University and a MBA from the University of Illinois.  He also holds a CPA certificate, a certificate in commercial banking, and is a licensed real estate broker.  He is employed by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois in the area of business and economic development.  His wife, Erika, is a substitute teacher in the District.  They have four children, three of whom have graduated from Mahomet-Seymour:  Blake, Austin, and Anika.  Their son, Erik, is a 7th grader at Mahomet-Seymour Jr. High.
